Current gen gpu(RTX 3000/2000, RX 6000,5000 series) on a several generations old CPU(Sandy Bridge) for 3d works?

I'm currently sporting a Core i5 2400 processor on an age-old Z68 platform. Can I get away with just upgrading my GPU and have a sizable performance bump on sketchup vray and lumion? I know that any AAA titles can't have justice on this. lol. I'll gonna overhaul my whole system later down the line, I just want for now the quickest route to improve my works.

Its gonna be bottleneck city but if you plan on upgrading soon go for it there isn't really any harm if you plan on replacing the rest of the system anyways. Just might be severely bottlenecked for a while

If they can take advantage of CUDA and/or RTX then yes, you'll see a performance improvement.

If the programs are gpu accelerated and can have ray tracing acceleration then yes. Of course they'll still be held back by a i5 2400. It's not too uncommon to have a weaker cpu and really beefy gpu in 3d workstations when all is gpu accelerated as you don't have a bottleneck then but this i5 is well below that point so you will not see the full power of the gpu even when rendering or in viewport performance. Still massive improvement compared to your 560. However you need a new psu as that thing is not capable of driving any of those cards safely.
