phone as display

hello, i want to use an old iphone 6 or 6s (I have the 2 lying around) as a 4th monitor just to have cpu temps. can I just get an adapter such as a lightning connetor to vga or hdmi or something and plug it into the gpu/mobo or is it harder than that?

I don't know about the adapters, but there are apps that can do that wirelessly on Android.

It will have some sort of delay, but that shouldn't be a problem for the use case (I use it as a dashboard aswell).

It should work on ios aswell. It's free, give it a shot.
