You should probably wait for Zen 3, though. Even if you don't end up buying a new chip, prices of the old ones will probably go down a decent amount. Also, I don't think you're going to find an Nvidia GPU with 8GB of VRAM at this pricepoint, unless you seriously gut the rest of the system.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

As mentioned above, keep a heads up on the upcoming CPUs on nov 5th (this Friday).

Got a question, why do you have a requirement as specific as Nvidia card with 8GB of RAM? Do you run an application that specifically requires that configuration?

Since you're playing Fortnite and that game supports Ray Tracing, grabbing an Nvidia RTX GPU is a good idea, though if you can wait a couple months there should be a next-gen midrange (3060) GPU coming out at some point.

AMD should also have midrange cards dropping around the same time. Their new generation of cards drops on Nov 18th.

Assuming you need to buy NOW, here's what you can get. Actually not that bad.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
