Planning new general purpose machine

Hi,

 

I am beginning to plan for building a new general purpose computer.  I would mostly be using it for game capture from consoles and video editing using Premiere, but would like it to be decent for gaming in case I want to start getting into PC gaming.  Just asking for advice/parts recommendations since the last 2 machines I built were for Windows XP and Windows 98SE respectively so I am not that knowledgeable about modern parts.  The only thoughts I currently have are that we are an Intel household and I would prefer to avoid RGB where possible.  I have no idea of how much parts would generally cost so I don't yet have a budget.
