2080 super underperforming

kanken

Just purchased a new 2080 super (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N208SAORUS-8GC/support#support-dl-utility) and installed it into my pc. I bench marked it on 3Dmark firestrike and got a score of 21410. The average for my setup is 22565. Also when i installed the new GPU i installed the  m.2 ssd with a fresh install of windows

My setup is:

GPU:Aorus 2080 super 8GB, link above

CPU: ryzen 5 3600

ram: corsair vengance 16gb 3200 DDR4 3200MHz

storage: 1TB hard drive and a 1TB m.2 ssd which windows is installed in.

However in games such as warzone on the lowest settings im averaging about 100 fps where as people with the same setups average around 160 fps.

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and looked everywhere but im still unsure on why it isnt performing as well.

If anyone could offer me some advice as to where to go or what to do it would be greatly appreciated.

GPU's get bios updates all the time... the ones that come in the box are all out of date.

Are you talking about GPU drivers? GPU bios is rarely ever updated and it's not consumer friendly to do.

I saw after posting that you meant GPU drivers. Yes, driver updates would be a must try for OP. Motherboard bios update as well if it has one available and is still having an issue after the graphics driver update. OP needs to make sure they are getting the drivers through the manufacturer webpage for the product as well and not through Windows updates as Windows updates usually gets outdated or even just the wrong drivers.

The Firestrike score is low by 5%, somewhat within margin of error. I'd wager the GPU is performing normally.

Clean up your OS, make sure Windows isn't background installing updates, etc, etc.

You might also want to check GPU-Z to make sure you have a full 16x connection.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64
