Screen tearing when FPS > Monitor max refresh rate

Say I have a 280MHz refresh rate monitor, and a RTX 3080 or RX 6800XT playing DOOM EXTRENAL. The FPS can easily go up above 280. When that happens, will screen tearing occurs?
