Yo so like 15+ years ago I had a couple facebook accounts, from way back when all you needed was a 'name' and an email. I made two accounts, one for real people and one for internet people. About 8 years ago I decided I was over that stuff and deactivated both accounts, I should have deleted them right then. Fast forward to now, I keep getting emails on my spam email account that's tied to my internet people account that someone requested a password reset and here's my recovery code. I'm getting like 2-3 of these emails a day. Also from time to time I would still get emails about so and so sent a message or requested this or whatever like my account is active? I've opted out as many of those as I can without logging in.

I have NO clue what my password is, when I made the account I used some randomly generated password and had it saved on a PC that's long since gone or maybe I changed it to something random when I deactivated the account. I have no idea what I filled in for ANY of my 'personal information' because none of it was real information, I don't know any of the people I'm 'friends' with except for on facebook so I have no way to contact them to do account recovery, and since this account wasn't a 'real person' I have no kind of photo ID to upload to recover the account.

Obviously someone is trying to get into it, I mean good luck to them I guess, but I'd rather it be gone. Same for my 'real' facebook account too, similar situation that I can't log in anymore and none of the 'personal' info on file is legit. Pretty sure I like put my address as evergreen terrace or some made up stuff.

Ideally, I'd like the account closed/deleted. The only link I still have to it is my email address. How do I delete/close the account?

Thats kind of taking me in a loop because I don't have any ID because the account is a fictional creation. I'll explore more of the options on that page but I didn't see l, at a glance, how to actually contact facebook without being on facebook. These accounts were made so long ago that phone numbers weren't needed to make them and if there is a number associated it's probably some internet IP phone number I used once as a throw away.

Why don't you just do a password reset?

You said you were getting spammed with password recovery emails, so clearly the email attached is still accessible.

If you cannot reset the password because it's asking you security questions that you cannot answer? Sorry dude, you put random made up information in there.

Always write down passwords somewhere (especially random ones) - you never know when you'll need to get into an old account.

You can use email recovery to get your username and password to go in there and delete.

You can filter your email to send to a fb file in your email, or send them to junk mail or delete file.

I had more email problems like you with meetup.com then I did with facebook. Since I joined 80 meetup groups there can be a lot if you dont set the settings up with notifications properly.

This.

However, also be careful that those password reset emails you were getting weren't some sort of phishing attempt. Never click on links in emails if you didn't do something that generated those emails. The fact those emails went directly into your spam folder makes them suspect. I have done a password reset a couple of times with Facebook and gmail never pushed them into spam.

Agreed - always manually go to the website instead of clicking through a link (unless you were specifically expecting the email as part of a larger reset process).

As far as the spam folder goes - if he hasn't used Facebook in nearly a decade, it could be flagged as suspicious.

Yeah, read the first post more carefully. This is a junk account with junk info, so I can't do the recovery. I don't have an ID that says 'Bitter 1234 Evergreen Terrace Springfield' I also don't know the people I'm "friends" with. The emails I'm getting are legit, checked the sender they're coming from. I'm getting reset codes sent, seems to have calmed down none today.

I hate typing on mobile, I'll try to put this together into a more coherent post when I'm home.

Basically, is or is there not a way to connect to a real person with facebook to delete this account?

You're pretty much SOL - Facebook doesn't provide a public phone number. I guess you could try calling their head office?

Is there any reason you... can't just send yourself a reset code? Like these people trying to login to your account are doing?

Facebook makes money on every little piece of info you provide them. Wouldn't be good to try to close a junk facebook account and have them get your real telephone number to link all your junk account info to. Wouldn't even be wise to give them your real main email account.

You are in a dilemma.

Couldn't you just mark the messages as spam, so you wouldn't have to see them any longer? I guess it's a half-way measure but better than nothing?

Yes, that is why I have multiple email accounts.

I have a generic junk email account for anonymous measures. I rarely log into it except for when I lose a pw to a forum, or lose a username to a rarely signed into forum.

That keeps many of the bs emails from coming into my main email account or business account account. Some forums will email you everytime someone posts in a thread you posted in or started up. Real annoying so I get where the OP is coming from.

Start using multiple email accounts.
