Last week I went through and cleaned out my computer. It was bad and hadn't been done in a couple of years. However, I noticed tonight that my computer is not registering my ram. After powering it all done I double checked the slots and they look clean. I went through and reinstalled the ram, firmly pushed it down and heard clicks from both sides on both sticks.

Did I burn my ram out while cleaning my computer?

A couple of notes if relevant

The Computer is booting up and running without issue

Computer is 6 years old, same ram the whole time

It's only 8 GBs

It's not registering in my control panel or in bios

If I do need new sticks is there any reason I shouldn't upgrade to 16GB as long as I verify it's compatible with my MB?

Seriously appreciate the help. I've spent about an hour looking on youtube and google without finding a clear answer.
