Philips 242M8 - lower fps on higher refresh rate

ayazam

ive been trying to upgrade my monitor for the past months, from 22" 1080p 60Hz IPS Display to higher refresh rate monitor

after watching some reviews, ill buy Philips 242M8, 24" 1080p 144Hz IPS Display

what i wanted to know, is it okay if the game hovering around 100FPS on 144Hz? will it be smoother?

right now im playing everygame capped at 60fps 60Hz for smoothness, even though my pc can ran game with 100+fps

thanks~

Yes, as long as you have variable refresh rate, it will feel smoother. I'm not familiar with that monitor, so do some research if there is Freesync and/or G-Sync compatibility with it.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

freesync premium & gsync compatible

using the same panel as the highly recommended cheap 24inch IPS 144Hz display, AOC 24G2

but 242M8 is cheaper

In that case, yes it will feel a lot smoother.
