GTA Online

I got myself the MSI GL65 with decent specs (RTX2060, 1TB + 256GB storage, and 8GB RAM (will upgrade by next week).

When I play GTA5, it plays fine.

However, when I played Online, other players are just flickering in random positions (no, it's not mod). Sometimes it takes longer to load (as expected for lobbies with more players), which I am not too surprised since desktop performance is still better.

Is it memory issue or just a poor connection?

Are you using wired ethernet? If not, it'll be a "feature" of wifi.

Online sucks a lot, most of the times. Might just be the connection to the server. If your internet is stable in other games, it is likely the server. You may also benefit from putting the game on a SSD. If you have a slow 5400 rpm HDD, it can cause those texture loading problems as well.

I am using my home wifi. I also own a home-made desktop, and GTA plays beautifully on the desktop with wifi.

I am playing GTA in the same table as my desktop, and the connection is like this. My internet hub is right outside my room.

My SSD is only 256GB where my system was installed, while my HDD is 1TB (7200rpm). If I still move it to the SSD, the performance will still improve?

Plug in wire, and see the difference!
Also the 8GB ram might be a reason. But unlikely. Bad internet connection is more likely.

And that you use the same wifi matters nothing! Its still using the wifi-card in the notebook which may be the reason.

And yes the connections to GTA online servers is shit at best, so putting wifi in between to make it even worse just compounds the issues.

Gaming and wifi DO NOT go (well) together.

If the framerate is fine and the other players are moving around all funky, it's an internet connection issue.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Both my desktop and laptop captures the Internet fine.

Maybe I should use a cable for my laptop, since a laptop wifi card is inferior to a desktop?

At least test it with cable. Just so you know if its really the internet. (which is very likely).
