PC Upgrading Help

What is the proper way to upgrade my system? I have bought a new i7 9700k, Asus Z390A, cpu cooler and new ram to upgrade my current system of i7 4790k. But I am keeping my gpu, ssd etc for my computer and I'm worried about the proper way to upgrade it without causing issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.
