FPS DROPS on a I9 Machine

I've been getting fps drops lately especially on CSGO and valorant, even with just the game open, Is There something I need to upgrade or change on my rig?



MOBO:Aorus x299 ultra gaming pro

CPU : Intel® Core™ i9-7940X X-series Processor
RAM : Gskill Trident z 32gb Rgb Ram

GPU : GTX 1080ti Videocard Corsair

PSU : Rm850 Powersupply

HDD & SSD : 2TB SEAGATE Intel M.2 512gb SSD 6
Watercooling mods : Full Bykski Watercooling Peripherals and RGB fans

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

How are your system temperatures and CPU/GPU utilizations? 

Do you have a lot of background applications running?

Are your graphics drivers up to date? - Yes I always update them everytime I get new ones

How are your system temperatures and CPU/GPU utilizations? MY temp is usually at 45-59C 

Do you have a lot of background applications running? No, I usually have my discord, chrome and the game I play open

I agree with all of this.

 

What do your temps look like?

Download a hardware monitor like HWiNFO https://www.hwinfo.com/

Open it up, start the log (spreadsheet with a little green plus sign in the bottom right). 

Play (and stream) a game for a bit to give us a useful log (at least 3 to 5 minutes), exit the game and stop the log.

Share the log with us.

View the log using the GenericLogViewer addon https://www.hwinfo.com/add-ons/.

Looking at your specs and knowing that you are playing csgo while streaming it, i suspect you are doing more than your 108ti can handle.

But get us a log file like i mentioned above and that will help us help you.

No, HWiNFO should create a .csv file for a log file.

When you open HWiNFO you should see a button in the bottom right.

I included a screenshot with it in a red box.

Open it up and click that button (The green plus will switch to a red X to let you know its loggging. It will also ask you for a file name and where to save it. I usually just name it YR-MO-DA_log and point it to my desktop. It will automatically ad the .csv to the file.
Then go do your thing (stream a game) for 5 minutes or so, then come back, click that button again to stop logging.

then share the log file it created.

Im not seeing anything obvious.

I suspect there is a background task that is kicking off and/or somehow causing this.

 

Is there any way you can create a log and be able to specify at what point in the log you see the frame drops?

Like run the log, and as soon as you see the stutter/drops stop the log and share it?

I ask, because nothing is jumping out at me, and it might help to know where in the log it happened so we can try to find a correlation.

Here it is I experienced a fps drop from 400 to 150 last second

Do you mean your FPS dropped from 400fps to 150fps that last moment?

I ask because 400fps is really high, and i remember an issue in regards to really high framerates resulting in frame drops.

Fuzzy on the details right now, but ill find it and i wonder if that's what's going on.

I usually max out my fps at 300, but same scenario happens my fps still drops

What monitor are you using?

And via HDMI or DisplayPort?

Im using BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 240Hz and via DisplayPort

Might be worth locking your FPS to 240 to see if that stops the frame drops.
