What exactly does the over drive feature do ?

Just recently bought a AOPEN 27HC5R Pbiipx 27" 1500R Curved Full HD (1920 x 1080) 165hz monitor and it came with a feature called Over drive and i can't make heads or tails to what this feature provides...

overdrive allows you to push the monitor's response time speed (pixel transition time) in order to decrease the trailing/ghosting of fast-moving objects.

At 165 Hz, the monitor has to completely draw the image and all pixels have to change within 1000 ms / 165 = 6ms, minus the amount it takes the processor to actually process the image (less than a ms usually)

This is not the case, in some situations some pixels take more than that amount to change from the previous color to the new color... and that's when you get ghosting.

Overdrive forces pixels to change faster, resorting to tricks to reduce the amount of time needed for pixel to reach the desired color.... but there's a downside, usually it means less accurate colors or other problems making overall image quality worse.
