Laptop Choice

I was wondering if I should get a new laptop. The one that I have is the Acer Predator helios 500 (1070 + i7 8750h). The one that I was thinking of getting is:https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKASU506084/ASUS-TUF-TUF506IV-HN254T-RTX-2060-Gaming-Laptop-15

Main concerns are thermals and gaming performance. The 2060 laptop is a great deal for NZ prices but I want a second opinion.

My personal move if I was in the market for a gaming laptop would be to wait for mobile versions of the new GPUs to come out.  It does put kind of a long wait on things.  Might be why it’s so cheap.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

If your current one is working fine and playing your games to your satisfaction, I'd say save your money. You might get a few frames from a 2060 versus a 1070 but not worth spending money on. And the TUF series has garbage panels, there's a dude called Jarrod on Youtube that reviewed them and showed how terrible their colors and response times were, despite being 144Hz panels.

Q2 of 2021 the 3000 series mobile GPUs should out, and that'd be a decent upgrade from your current setup if you were so inclined.
