So I can operate the system with either 2 slots or all 4?

1 slot and 3 slots are not working?

What is considered to be better?

2 or 4 slots?

It's better to run 2 sticks of memory in dual channel for best results.

So you'd install the memory in slot A2 and B2

A1 and A2 are channel 1 and B1 and B2 is channel 2.

Good Day

I have a question about the RAM support of the CPU i7-8700k

I want to purchase new RAM for my setup

I am running the above mentioned i7-8700k on a MSI Z370 A-PRO Mainboard.

The motherboard has 4 RAM slots.

On the website of the Mainboard you can find the phrase Dual channel memory architecture.

In the CPU specs I see Max # of Memory Channels.

Does this mean that this setup is only working with two RAM?

Or is this a recommendation?

It confuses me because the Mainboard has 4 slots.

Each channel has 2 slots. 4 DIMMS is still only dual channel.
