Anybody think a Ryzen 3900x, would pair good with msi x570 tomahawk? Maybe with a light overclock?  Or don't even chance it and go with a x570 strix. I'm thinking I could save some money in this area then apply the savings to other components. Or what's everyone's opinion? Doesn't have to be a Asus board just my preference.

 

I did get to see the motherboard list. It was a Tier S.

The X570 Tomahawk is pretty-much the only MSI X570 board with acceptable VRM-s.

 

Have you checked their B550 boards? they feature superb VRM-s.

The only one? What. The unify (and the ace since that's the same thing) are also good and their godlike is also good.

Will easily handle even the 16 core,it has a 12 phase with 12 ISL99360's doubled with ISL6617, it will handle the 3900x without a problem.

The x570 Tomahaw has extremely good VRMs. You'd be able to overclock the CPU how far it can go without the mobo being a bottleneck.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
