GPU suggestions for older PC.

I picked up a Dell optiplex 780 with a Q6600 and 16gb of ram for $10. What low profile GPU would pair best with this for playing some older games at high/medium settings with a good frame rate?  I have a GT 1030 but I feel like this is overkill for such an old system.

GT1030 is MUCH like a 750Ti performance target give or take..
You could likely find videos in a cross-search Q6600 with 750Ti... for system based dated results.

 

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

A GT1030 would be perfect for the system

 

a GT1030 used with a Q6600 would yield minimal fps difference around 5-10 compared to a better CPU such as an i5

So the CPU wont bottleneck the 1030.  I use the 1030 with an i5 4660 right now and it works great for light gaming. I was hoping to find an AMD card to try with the OPTIPLEX.

A little about 5-15% but wont be that noticable

If youre looking for an AMD card youd be looking for something like a RX460 or RX550 if you can source a low profile version

There is actually a Chinese brand of RX550 called Yeston on Amazon that makes a low profile. Has pretty good reviews too.  Maybe I’ll give that a try.

I've been looking for low profile gpu and for the price of that yeston rx550 here in canada ... well I would go with a gtx 1050 ti (if i'm ever able to find one) or a gtx 1650 low profile instead ... with the q6600 that 1650 might be limited a bit tho ... or maybe not ... should find benchmark ...  or just keep the gt1030 and enjoy it.
