PCIE card > USB stick. 

hi. im building a pc for my friend and the mobo doesnt have wifi. apart from using an ethernet cable, what can i do to get him wifi. should i use a usb adapter or should I get an ugly pcie x1 card. or something else? please help me.

I've never had much problem with USB adapters, just watch out for some of Netgear's older adapters that still come with only a disk. I ended up having to download the driver to my phone, then upload it to my PC. Also make sure to check the speeds on the Adapter, I always advocate for ethernet cables though to ensure the best speed/performance.

I've had really good luck with TP-Link WiFi cards. My Archer T8E is still kicking and gave great WiFi performance. This is a little bit more than you budgeted, but perhaps the T6E would be good? https://www.newegg.com/tp-link-archer-t6e-pci-express/p/N82E16833704274

that disk thing happened to me. i just moved my pc next to my router, got a 6 feet ethernet cable and installed it that way. and ill check the speeds
