Budget for a custom loop

The swarm of amazing build logs in the forum has inspired me to make a custom loop in the future. Since I know nothing about watercooling I would like to have an idea of how much it would cost to do this.

I would like to have a 240mm and a 280mm rad, one cpu block, one gpu block (maybe 2)

I'm looking for a budget that does not consider fans.

I'll probably do the build on my current 550D but that is not set in stone.

If you want t do it deluxxe you should plan in ~400 - 450 $

Custom watercooling is expensive..  If you really don't have that much money to throw at it, you might be better off with a premade system

Usually it's around 100-130$ for a GPU-block, 70-100$ for a CPU-block, 70-300$ for rads, 70-130$ for a pump, 50-80$ for a reservoir, 50-90$ for fittings & 20-40$ for the tubing.

 

Controllers, pumptops, sensors & sli add extra costs.

I would start with cpu-only loop in the beginning.

CPU-only loop will give you a general understanding of how/what/where and will save you some money, in case you won't like/feel comfortable with watercooling.

Money shouldn't be the issue because I'm planning on doing this by the end of the year, so I'll save up until then

I recently built a custom loop for CPU and a single GPU. With all compression fittings and an awesome alphacool nexxxos ut60 420mm rad, it came to about 500 total.
