January is far enough away that both RDNA2 and the consoles will be out. As such it is extremely hard to say what will be useful.  To make it more fun zen3 isn’t out yet and all we have is manufacturer claims about functionality which have historically been extremely suspect.

Basically you’ve got time and things are so subject to change that there is little that could even be thought about.  In any case component prices are rarely good for more than a few days.  This is likely a question best treated after mid November at the very earliest.

Game mods usually eat a lot of memory as does fltsim2020, so there could possibly be an argument for a lot of ram.  I wouldn’t get less than 16gb.  I don’t know if 32gb would be helpful or not.  Zen3 and the budget sort of puts motherboard choices between x570 and b550.  In your situation I’d tend to lean more towards b550 but that one could be subject to change. At this moment that’s all that can be said with any certainty.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
