Cleaning mechanical keyboard

I've read guides but I'm too nervous to just go by what they say so I'd like some direct advice please. I have a mechanical Corsair K70 and the keycaps aren't stamped (or painted with the letters) they're transparent and the light comes through to light up the letters, so there's no risk of removing the letters through cleaning. I figure I can just put them in a spaghetti strainer and rinse them off with some soapy water. They're not that bad. The metal board is grimy and dirty and I was thinking of using some alcohol swabs and qtips with 70% alcohol to wipe it off. The board is metal. 

 

Any warnings for me?

Sounds very similar to how I did my mechanical keyboard. The only difference was I used alcohol pads to clean each keycap once pulled off and placed on a cookie tray, keeping in mind not to knock it over and have the keys go flying!!

I just use something like cotton pads and alcohol.
