GTX 980 overheating when sagging

I have a Zotac AMP! Omega GTX 980 that started to overheat after I moved my pc. As it turns out it sags and when it sags it overheats bad (91C with 100% fans, clocks going down to 1200mhz)

Is there any way that this could be fixed? (Other than propping it up)

Re-Thermal paste it,..Don't go crazy with amounts,...just an amount for Full coverage of the Core edge to edge so No Hotspots,... it's a few years in at least as it is now...
Likely not as good as it once was and dried up..

That mean the sag affect contact between HSF and GPU die, put something to stop it from sagging?

 

And yes, repaste it as well.

Probably the cooler doesn't make good contact with the die when sagging, the same happened with my 390.

The card went from 40c to 90c as soon as under load. As I stress test it while holding it by the shroud, temps were fine.

The backplate (and not the cooler itself) came loosely screwed in from the factory. I tighten the screws without overtightening them and that fixed it for me.

While you're at it, you might as well change the thermal paste.
