Should all my SATA ports be set to AHCI?

Hi all,

I know that the sata ports that my ssd is connected to should be ahci but should the other ports that my hdd are connected to. Will it help? Is it unessecary? Does it depend on the drive or the mobo?

Leave it in AHCI unless you are doing RAID

Leave it in AHCI unless you are doing RAID

Or dual boot with an OS that does not support ACHI.  In this day and age though, there is little reason to not use ACHI.

IDE mode basically just exists for old compatibility shenanigans as far as I'm aware.

 

So yeah, set it to AHCI or RAID, depending on what you're setting up.
