ram, the cpu and motherboard probably around 500usd

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Do you think I should upgrade to that or get something more like a 5 3600?

for rx 580 3600 is decent. 5600XTG is more future proof thought (better for gpu upgrades)

I'd tough it out until you get more budget or when the zen3 budget chips are announced.

The budget chips meaning the ryzen 3 series?

If you aren't going to be spending a lot on a gpu to upgrade your 580, then a ryzen 3 5100 or whatever might be pretty compelling.

Right now the 3100 performs pretty well with a midrange gpu.

Alternatively the i3-10100F looks pretty compelling at its price point when it releases.

Potentially you could pair it with a more potent Z490 board and upgrade to Rocket Lake (presuming it will be compatible with Z490, which is probably likely) at aa later date and get not only more cores but also PCIE4.

It's a bigger gamble though.
