I been trying to figure out how to use those nice Cisco Phones at home. I just happen to take things to far so I need my own phone system. I'm pretty good with crazy network prodjects, my last being a cantenna repeater. I'm having trouble. I want to use a Raspberry Pi with Asterisk. Here's a video of what I want.

My problems are with Google Voice and SIP Providers. I hear Google Voice wont work after May? I'm looking at http://www.vestalink.com/ as an option. Can I do better? Will it work? Is there a way to get free outgoing calls, I'm not understanding Google Voice at all. At this point I'm not 100% sure that it's SIP Provider I need or DID's.

I need help

If there are older post please direct me but the change in Google Voice makes a lot of the internet post out of date.

I also came here woundering if Linus would do a Pi FreePBX prodject as a guide.

I want a VOIP system in place of a landline. I guess I just want to have a phone sever and use something like a cisco 303 to call normal phone numbers. I've looked at Ooma but I feel like I can do better with my own system.

i always wanted to do this but it seems  insanely hard on a raspberrypi

if you could pull it off i would love a step by step instruction guide

This plus what the video I posted earlier should be all I'll need. I'm just not sure. I'm not rich so I would like some conformation before investing. It seems like it's not bad, but hoping someone else has more experance and can give me better information.

I haven't got it done but I'm doing it this way now.

I got the Pi all set up and my Obi110 is on the way. Still need phones and I haven't even started with NetTalk.

I'll fill you in if I get anywhere but it might be awhile.
