It obviously is going to work, but why 32gb of RAM? I would also advise against getting the 1660 ti. A 1660 super or $20-30 more for the 2060 (if you're not willing to wait for new GPUs) is a better deal.

Honestly, I think you should just wait. For $1.3k you can build a very good system in the next couple of months. A Ryzen 5 5600x with a 3070 or one of the new Big Navi GPUs would be a great system.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

Chrome won't use 32 gb of ram unless you have literally hundreds open. What will you be using your pc for?

That's a terrible PSU, and it's so old it might give you issues with random shutdowns, not to mention dangerous voltage regulation. Grab this instead, it will be worth every penny. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FdRFf7/corsair-cx-2017-550w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020121-na

I recently RMA'd one of these almost 5 years after getting it, and the PSU itself didn't give any problems at all (it was the fan that started clicking). I can 100% vouch for Corsair's customer support, and for the quality of this unit.

Other people will have comment on other part choices.

btw how much will the 5600x cost? including the   3070

If at msrp, around $800. I didn't see that you had included a monitor in your price, so a $1,000 build would be more in your budget. For that you can get a better GPU than the 1660 ti and a current or next gen CPU.

If you want the absolute best bang for buck, a used 1080 ti will cost you around $350 and performs almost exactly the same as a 2070 Super.

If you don't want to buy used, the RX 5700 XT starts at $380 and is a couple percentage points behind the 1080 Ti / 2070 Super. I'd say that's the best bang for buck for resolutions above 1080p.

That CPU cooler is going to be insufficient btw. It'll be very loud and very hot. The value for money option is the Deepcool Gammaxx 400, or grab a Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition if you want something nice looking.

The CPU and motherboard choices are weird, probably because it's stock that ibuypower has lying around. The modern options are B550 + Ryzen 7 3700X or Z490 + i7 10700k, if you really need 8 cores.

Have to agree. Unless you're using your computer for Video Editing/Rendering, CAD or another workstation task you should be fine with 16gb. You could use the money you'd save to get a bigger HDD.

Any demanding games? Any plans for a 1440 or 4K monitor?
