am i being optimistic?

It's a pretty noticeable difference, although I'd imagine you'll notice the difference in refresh rate more than resolution.

Am i being optimistic? Purchasing my first ever 1440p / 165hz monitor in two weeks! Ive had multiple 4k monitors and 4k tvs in the past few years but never a 1440p monitor :/ should i be excited or isit not that awesome after all? Currently been using a 1080p 75hz monitor for the past few months as i recently built a gaming pc again after a while of not having one (was on console for quite some time)

165Hz is going to feel buttery smooth

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I’m currently at 1080p but aiming to upgrade to 1440p when I can afford it.

1080p is the standard and 1440p is the luxury, if you can afford it go for it.

1080p does 90% just fine thought and shouldn’t be hated/looked down on.

i5 8600 - RX580 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz

I'll probably aim for 1440p 120-144Hz when I finally get around to upgrading my panels.

I have a 27" iMac(same size as my PC's main monitor, which is 1080p) and 1440p is very noticeably crisper.

I got my Samsung 1440P Curved 144Hz display for around $350 CAD. For monitors which would last probably two system upgrades for most people, I wouldn't think a nice 1440p monitor would be considered a luxury for people. I'm planning to use this thing for probably 7 years at least as a main display. It's not like a GPU where those usually last 2-3 years before people go ahead and upgrade them. It's components like those I would consider as a luxury in the tech space.
