My instructor is a retired airline pilot and he has 2x 172s and some old Citabria from the 40's

Oh. I fly with a fairly large flight school so rates are high. I have about 23 hours at 14 so I am really ahead of post pilots as far as age. I am really lucky to start flying so young.

I know. It is $10,000 here in the us.

Depending on what you want to do here in sweden it starts at around that. Add all the certifications for working as a pilot and you're looking at around $45K.

(thankfully im only looking at it for private use. But after that there is the cost of an actual plane.. Just thinking about it makes my wallet hurt..)

I want to so bad. 14 is the starting age right?

Technically you can start at any age but you can't solo until 16 and get your cirtificate until 17 so You might want to wait until you are 16 to start.

Well, I just turned 18 and I have 57 hours so I think you're winning ;)

I started just after I turned 10 so I have a huge head start but because my parents wont pay anything I can only fly when I work enough to afford to fly. The things I like have to be self funded.

No, you need an instructor sign off that you get usually between 10 and 20 hours of training.

Could I get those hours before turning 16?

Yes, I have 23 and am 14. You need 20 hours of dual to get certified so in theroy you can do most of that before solo. In fact you probably should.
