I'm wanting to attempt to build a custom desktop modeled after the Adventure Time character BMO, because it would just be really awesome, and Adventure Time is my favorite! I do have a vast experience with computers, however I do not have a whole lot of money. I have compiled 2 different parts lists (Intel & AMD). My father who is a sheet metal contractor says he can make me a case, but I don't entirely know how I want everything to look or go in it. I have made a quick diagram of how I think it should look that is attached here. I've also made a prototype out of a cardboard box, but think it's a little too big. Of course I'd want his legs and arms and all his buttons, including the controller ports to be USB 3 ports. I'd want to motherboard I/O to go through the back and the front to be the chassis door. I also want the game cartridge slot to be a BD Burner. I'm not asking for free stuff, I'm just curious on what everyone thinks of this and how I should approach it when I'm able to build it.

Also, I am not a gamer really, so I won't need it for gaming, but just want mid-range parts.

Here are my parts lists:

AMD:

Ryzen 5 3600 $199.99

16gb ram $57.99

Gigabyte B450 Aorus $129.99

SSD $104.99

BR $59.99

PSU $39.99

GPU Biostar Raedon RX550 $76.99

Intel:

Intel Core i5-9600K 9th Gen 6C 3.7 GHz. LGA 1151 - $199.99

OLOy 32GB DDR4 - $92.90

ASRock B360M ATX - $59.99

Thermal paste - $6.99

Rosewill mATX case - $39.99

EVGA 400W PSU $39.99

WD 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD - $89.99

LG 14x SATA BDRW - $59.35

Silverstone NT09 heatsink - $19.99

I want to know what everyone thinks and also want to know how I can build a case (idk if my dads shop has a 3D printer for the legs, arms, and buttons)

also, I don't need his face to be his actual face, I'd just want his face to be an LED backlit acrylic panel or something similar.

Thanks for reading and hope you all have a good rest of your day!

seems like you'd want an ITX case to get more space inside, could use an M.2 drive to reduce space taken up as well

for a non gaming parts list, this CPU with integrated graphics will do just right, won't need to worry as much about airflow either (but you should still have air intake and some exhaust. maybe instead of a speaker?)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Ooh, thats weird to see someone planning in a blueray/dvd/cd drive into their build.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Ive not seen one, but I guess that a bunch of people still use their pcs to replace a blueray player, or a console.

Why that PSU? I thought the S12III has some serious problems

the S12II is a pretty bad PSU, but the S12III has a different design and I used to not recommend it, but or this type of PC it's fairly appropriate

not the kind of PSU I'd assign to the likes of a 2070 and Ryzen 7, but for such a simple PC, there wouldn't be any issues. I recommended this unit over OP's selection of the EVGA BR because it has a better temp rating (if I recall correctly) and temps matter in a custom enclosure, in case airflow is not so great.

Couldn't you go for something like a silver CX 450w though? It'd be better suited to handle upgrades down the line, and It's only $10 more.

This PSU is pretty suitable for a budget CPU and GPU combo, not sure if OP plans to upgrade in the future really.

@FinnyLBStarry95 what kind of hardware would you hope to toss in this thing down the line? High end GPU/CPU? If you are, a better PSU would be worth it
