Hi ,

I've recently started playing pc games again with my main pc and out of curiosity runs Task manager and EVGA Precision on the background (not at the same time) just to see how my cpu is coping with the newer games titles.I'm surprised, that the cpu load is only around 48% max but the gpu load is 98 to 100% load.Does this mean my cpu is bottlenecked by my gpu? It doesn't make much sense considering how old my cpu is.

Here's my setup

- Xeon x3470 overclocked to 3.8 (had to tune down to 3.6 since it'll crash when playing in a long period of time)

- Corsair vengence 2400 16gb

- EVGA 1070 ti ftw

- 250Gb ssd boot drive

- 3Tb hdd (installed all games here along with other stuff)

- 850W Corsair modular psu

That's not how that works. The CPU feeds the GPU information and the GPU outputs that to your display. The GPU doesn't bottleneck the CPU in any way.

That said, I'd upgrade to a newer Intel or AMD CPU asap. The part you're using now is ancient, 1st generation i7 equivalent. I have an old X3440 in my drawer, and I've had that thing since 2010. Time to upgrade!

Agreed but I'll stick with my ancient setup for now since it's still can game and it also serves as a home media server pc for my kids to watch movies on their laptops and also because I'm also ancient 😂
