I was building a pc, and was looking for a psu, I was generally inclined towards the Corsair VS550, CV450 or CX450 series, but i later came across a Thermaltake Smart 600w, which was considerably lesser in price.

Should I go for that, or stick with Corsair, or any other brand?   ( also, i would be running the pc for long amounts at time, just in case that was necessary to know)

Pc specs:

R3 3300x

8x2 TForce Vulcan Z

Asus TUF 2060 O6G

MSI b450 Tomahawk Max

a 1 tb hdd, and a 120 gig ssd

The CX450 is miles better than all of the other units you mentioned, and is the only one I would actually use to power those components.

Right, but isn't 450w limiting future upgradability a bit?

I'd rather have limited upgradability than limited functionality when my system goes up in smoke (slight exaggeration).

No but really, the TT Smart is a dumpster fire, and the Corsair VS and CV (save for the CV650) are really only meant for cheap... preferably pre-Haswell office PCs.

No, the rated output is not in any way an indication of a PSU's quality, just like the brand or efficiency rating aren't.

PSU prices are all over the place nowadays, so "around the price of a CX450/550" doesn't really mean much.

What's your budget (in your local currency, not converted to USD or whatever)?

Going by prices on PCPP, this is the cheapest decent PSU:

https://sg.pcpartpicker.com/product/FL3H99/seasonic-s12iii-500-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-ssr-500gb3

Also the CX450 looks to be $142.

Ah, I see.

If you find any good deals on the Cooler Master MWE v2 (either the White or Bronze, just not the v1) or Antec Neo Eco Zen Gold, those'd also be good options.
