CPU upgrade for my 2080 TI

Sir_Zeke

Budget (including currency): £2000

Country: UK London

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming 70% and video engineering 30% working on large files 40GB to 120GB per file.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi guys, Its finally time to upgrade my PC. I need advice on what to get for my needs and not to spend over the top. I was out of the game for last 7 years so all the new features for motherboards and CPU are foreign to me. So lets structure it a bit:

Parts I have in plain text, parts I will replace in bold text:

CPU

i7-3770 Stock

Motherboard

H61M-DS2 DVI

RAM

16GB 1600MHz DDR3

GPU

EVGA 2080 TI Black with Raijintek Morpheus II and NF-A12x25 x2

Case

X-CASE XK465F2 4U

Storage

250Gb Evo(OS), Crucial MX500 1TB(Game Drive), 1TB WD RED and DS918+ with 4x12TB Seagate EXOS X14

PSU

Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum 1000W

Display(s)

Acer Predator XB321HK 4K 60Hz and Dell 24" 1080P 60Hz

Cooling

NF-S12B x3 (Air Flow), NF-F12 x3 (Intake, Filtered)

At the moment I'm only looking to replace CPU, MOBA, RAM and get a nice 1TB OS drive which I will be using for work too. I only game in 4k so no need for high refresh rates. My PC will be inside 4U rack case with no window so no need for RGB and I have aquasuite quadro for fan controlling. As for drive I need something very fast that will survive 3 to 4TB of data a month for next few years. Ram 32GB will be fine as a the moment I hit 11 to 14 GB while working. I will be water cooling the whole PC as quiet operation is very important to me but not now maybe next year. I want to pick you Zen 3 processor with nice moba preferably without fan because I will have to change it for water block. I want to add in a future one more drive and 10GB network card. Overall I'm looking for build that will laat me next 5 to 7 years like my i7 3770 did. Thank you for help and ask my anything.

My current PC:

The board is expensive, but to my knowledge the only X570 board with no chipset fan. And it comes with a 10Gb NIC.

You'll have to check the CPU Cooler height compatibility for that case.

CPU is only a place holder as I will be picking up new Zen 3 CPU, as for Cpu cooler max height is 150 mm  so anything that is smaller than that  and can exhaust heat to the back. I think is crazy to buy £700 motherboard with only extra future 10GB network card. I would prefer to get a separate network card as for now I do not need one. Storage for OS 1TB is more than enough for now and I have a room to get one more in a future when needed. As for RAM i have no clue I know I need 32GB but whats speeds or latency I do not know. I will be water cooling the whole PC and EK has water cooling block for Gigabyte X570 AORUS ULTRA.

Lets leave it for next 2 days and see what AMD announces on 8 of October. If new CPU comes with stock cooler I can use that for now till I get whole PC water cooled.

Hi, after a bit of research this is what I end up with:

CPU Ryzen 5900X = £530

Motherboard Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER = £336

RAM 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black, PC4-28800 (3600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 18-22-22-42, XMP 2.0, 1.35V = £60

CPU Cooler Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360

OS Drive 2TB Sabrent Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0 = £350

Total = £1276

I decided to get larger SSD and cheap RAM. RAM I will upgrade in future to 32GB with better CAS and frequency when price drop a bit and reviewers will find sweet spot for new Ryzen 5000. What do you think will this work well for now? Or should I just get 32GB 4000mhz C18 for £270 and call it a day? Thanks for help and if all is good I will order it next week.

Hi, so I order 5900X got it in my basket on lunch after witch I got 3 email confirming my order and delivery date for 6 November. In a middle of a night I got email that i was place on pre order list for 20 of November. Very happy about it.... On the bright side I got my new rack for my server and my PC. Now I'm only waiting for CPU. Got two rails from dell for free will try to use them as they are pricey for what they are:
