So I am upgrading from a I5-6600k to the I5-10600k reason I went for that is it is so much cheaper than the other 10th gens and it still is a great value since its so cheap and still so powerful. Big upgrade from my 600k to lol.I was looking for help with what mother board to get I need something that is cheaper so I can afford both the CPU and motherboard. Something cheaper but still reliable.

I have 16gb of ram and a ROG Strix 1080. Thank you in advance.

Are you set on getting a 10600K? AMD will announce their new Zen3 CPUs later this week. They're expected to make a huge leap over current Zen2 performance. I'd just wait a few more days before deciding to go with a 10600K.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

So true, i'd rather go for AMD than Intel if it's a budget build, they're beasts at this point.

will they be less than 300 with similar performance to the 10600k?

We can't tell for sure, but the 3600 is already 99% of the performance of the 10600K for currently ~170$. And the 3700X is better in almost any way for currently ~270$. Ryzen chips currently are around 5% worse in games but a lot faster in anything other than games in every price class. So next-gen Ryzen is expected to put the final nail in the coffin for Intel. Just my opinion and expectation.
