RTX 3090 Build

Conrad310

Hello peps.

First time posting in a long time and I have never done a "build log" before so I figured I'd give it a try since I got the privilege of building with a 3090. Actually, I'm building two PC's, both with 3090 FEs...pretty wild.

It started with a buddy of mine needing help building his PC because he is on the road with his job and is unable to take time off, then his buddy who is also wanting a new build, asked if I would do the same because...just because? Either way, I pumped.

Here is the PC Part Picker lists below.

Now, did he pay $1500 for the 3090? Don't know, didn't ask, don't care. 🤷‍♂️

Budgets were originally around $2500 or so, and most importantly, not with a 3090... both were originally set for 3080's and whatever 3080's they could get their hands on. I haven't been as involved with how they got 3090's at or around retail but they did after a return of the 3080's. They both got ZOTAC cards and got scared off pretty hard with the recent news of the 3080's.. Just some back story.

This build was focused around being a smaller form factor to fit in his semi truck. We skipped on water cooling because his truck running could cause issues from vibrations.

( Pics to follow and incoming soon, ran outta time for the night )

Here's something to chew on... 😁

Would you wait for the 20th? Next gen ryzen CPUs come out then. You could probably get everything else, and get the cpu when it comes out,

Did you.... read any of this?

No machinal drives in this build due to the vibrations from the truck, can't take a risk.  I need to do this on my next build. Less cables? Yes please..

I can't help but to laugh at the size of this cooler on this mobo. 😂

I'm currently using a Cryorig H7 and its a joke compared too.

Not sure I thought this through with clearance for the case..

Had a few days between this progress and the card  showing up. Took my 1070Ti out for a test boot to make sure we have a post.

IT'S ALIVE.

Well... it happened. I know all of you saw this coming. The ram modules are not low profile dims, and therefore that second fan on the cooler is up high(er). It's also a 150mm fan so not small by any means.

What to do... internet claims not much of a dip in thermals with one fan running on the NH-D15..but we can't just leave it.

I took it off, and replaced it with one of fractal's 120mm case fans...🤷‍♂️

Modern problems require modern solutions.  ( eh )

HOW DID IT FIT SO PERFECTLY... are we kidding right now...

I still don't get it but it worked out.

Put the big 150mm on the bottom to provide some fresh air for the beast that's about to be in this case. 😈  plus it would look dumb with the 120 on the bottom but whatever.

These are from no overclocking what so ever. Just seeing where base line results are at. But, damn. That's nice.

Looks a bit squished, but I guess that is what a 3090 is gonna do to a case, otherwise I think it looks great.

Thank you. I have to agree, I really like this CPU cooler, it's so quiet. 🤘

Looks great!  Mind me asking what your gpu vram temps get up to when you game/mine? Does the gpu overheat or heat up the cpu being that close?  I have an aio on my cpu now with a 3090 but I placed a case fan on the gpu to keep it cool.  Looking to change out to a chromax but not sure if the 3090 will overheat
