You could create a TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt volume just slightly smaller that the media's free space. Create it on your local drive and burn it to the MDisc.  You could do encrypted 7Z/Zip (this is what I use for archiving transaction log files). Both these methods have the likelihood of being around when you need to restore. I'm not sure if something like DiskCryptor would be able to encrypt the entire volume, I've never tried that.
