is seasonic m12II good?

NikitaSch

Definitely not. The S12III is passable, on the other hand.

The RX 590 is an odd choice though, considering it's just a 580 that spits out even more heat and pulls even more power.

There's also the 1650 Super with similar performance, much lower power draw and heat output, VP9 decoding (which is useful if you're watching YouTube in the background or whatever, since you'll only be using a 4C/8T CPU), much better hardware encoder (for streaming), and about the same price. The only problem with it is the lack of VRAM in comparison to the 580/590 - 4GB instead of 8GB.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

More like the other way around - the M12II is an old, group regulated unit, that's really not suitable for any sort of modern hardware. I mean, it'll work for an office PC if the budget doesn't allow for something better, but that's about it.

The S12III is substantially better.

Yes, the S12III is a new better unit than the M12II EVO.

The M12II-B Evo 380/420/520/620 are based on an old double forward, group-regulated design and lack some protection set, while the S12III is based on a LLC + dual mag amp design which is better suited for modern day system. It would be dumb of Seasonic to degrade when going from S12II / M12II-B to S12III.

Oh it does matter, but they are both budget PSUs.... The S12III is the better unit of the two.
