Hi everyone! recently I built a new system, running a Ryzen 5 3600. I have been re-using a 1650 SUPER from a different build, and I am in the market for a new GPU. However, my color scheme is white/grey/silver, so there are not may sub $300 (my budget) GPU's out there. I found the GALAX EX WHITE series, and they look great, I just cant find a review for them in English anywhere. I was looking at the GALAX GTX 1660 SUPER EX WHITE. I only have a few grievances.

1: The heatsink looks small and not good

2: I have only heard of GALAX a few times, mostly for their HOF brand, but the EX brand is not part of that.

3: I cant find that card in stock and for sale anywhere that I would buy it from.

If someone could help me figure out what to do, or suggest a different card that would be SO helpful! Thanks! (And before anyone suggests it, no, I really dont want to paint the GPU)

It's a pretty standard one for a 1660S

they have quite a long history, but a second tier brand since their customer service is way behind the big players.

Too small of a performance leap for me to recommend such act.

I had the same problem when I was building. There was white GPUs, just not in my budget. Personally, what I did was purchase the gpu I desired and found a custom backplate for it, as long as you are not vertically mounting your GPU its should still look clean

Hi! sorry for the late response! I think that is what I will do. I think I'm just gonna get the Gigabyte rx5600xt and grab a custom backplate from somewhere like V1Tech. Is there anywhere you recommend for a custom backplate?

There are the white Strix 20 series cards but they may be out of your budget. They did it for the 2080S and Ti for sure, not sure about the 2080.

Yeah, I saw those. They look so good! However, they only come in the 2080 Super and ti, so even if I had the budget, it would not be worth it with the 3070 and speculated 3060 coming up

You could just take off the existing backplate, and spraypaint it...

Great idea! Unfortunately, I already thought about that, and I really dont want to void any sort of warranty (I have had a bad experience with that before) Also, I am just to scared in general.

If you're in the USA, they legally can't void your warranty for changing the shroud/backplate color or any level of disassembly that doesn't damage it. If you're in another country, you'd have to look into the specific laws of that country.

Oh wow! thank so much! I was just worried because my current GPU have the sticker so they can tell if I un-screwed it.

That sticker is there only for when they ship it overseas. It is illegal for them to refuse warranty coverage over that sticker's condition in the USA.
