so i'm intersted in buying a Xeon X5675 and i'm looking at motherbaords, what's a good mobo that's not wayyyyy too pricey? and will i need to use ECC ram?

WHats the rest of the system?

 

Do you want a server or desktop board?

 

Probalby go with a used x58 board, but there not cheap. Id probably st

 

Might as well use ecc, as registered ecc is cheaper and non ecc.

But why are you  purchasing such old hardware? The IPC on this chip is going to be quite low in comparison to say an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or something of the like......

Only buy into X58 if you can get a quality used motherboard (not the brand new Chinese garbage) and a CPU or RAM for under $100.
