That's if you want to pay money, just install Linux, setup accounts for each user and VNC server and same thing, except for free.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

yes, Remote Desktop Services (aka terminal services) is what you need, but even then you'll be quite limited to what you can do satisfactory.

even scrolling through PDFs can be a pain..

cost of hardware and licensing will kill it.. not to mention having all your eggs in one basket

See if you can make them get money for Kaveri A8 rigs, 8GB of 1866MHz RAM, and so on. Then tell them to go away.

This is how we did on our computer science class, there was a giant loud server with overclocked Intel P4 and 4 gigs of ram. And we all had an all in one pc combo with 128 megs of ram, we would all connect to giant server to use microsoft office and powerpoint, because without the remote desktop it would pop up an error that says we haven't got enough ram, and what is even worse, at that time, it costed more than to buy a new desktop solution (e1-1200 with 4 gigs of ram and super fast hard drives and windows 8's) Now we actually have that kind of rig, and it is a huge improvement, we played flash games on 5 fps with those shits...

That is so simple it's brilliant, I was looking to do this a long time ago and this is brilliantly simple. Instead I tried running VMs on separate monitors using wireless HDMI and that didn't work because I was limited to a single cursor input  and I would need a way to separate the different keyboard inputs then I tried the same setup with display fusion simply because it took less resources but I hit the same road block. The closest thing I could find was multimouse but that was sort of the complete opposite of what I needed. But your solution might be possible with a couple of raspberry pi.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

set up accounts invest in an I7 and 32gb of ram then run windows in virtual machines and boom gaming and a whole boatload of instability. Boom problem solved by throwing more problems at the problem.

Never used such thing. How is it compared to let's say a VM that he would access with Remote Desktop ?

this actually sounds like a typical "linux approach" to the problem: just make it even more complicated, until the problem itself will feel so confused that it will give up

sacrifice anything to keep it free. hair loss and stress is a small price to pay but at least it's not being paid to microsoft.
