RTX 3080 Founders or AIB??

What are peoples thoughts on this topic, after hearing the reviews it seems the cooling on the founders is good so what reason, if any, is there to spend more $$££ on a AIB?

 

my major concern is that the cheaper AIB's will have worse thermal performance

The best argument I have for waiting, is that you will have more information available to you in the future, and you will be better able to make an informed decision.

It's a drastic shift from previous stock coolers, if you wanna spend extra money for 3rd party branding and colors that's on you, but smart money is on a stock card unless you're trying to get a very aggressive OC, in which case Nvidia doesn't make a stock card for you.

Besides Linus's video and OC3D there isn't much information to debate which cooler is "the best" as the best has bias based on said user. RTX 3080 FE according to nvidia's chart and what Linus mentions in his "both increase thermals of the cpu/ram" the heat blown from the right fan causing a higher core temp in comparison.

 

Perhaps it would be necessary to isolate the heat exchange used in servers/high-end workstations using fans to seperate airflow + temperature.

 

Tomorrow is the set date when anyone in the UK can (pre)order said card from whichever vendor your heart desires but who knows if it's worth their money. Having said that it might be a few days or week(s) till thorough testing is published.

It could be that aside from liquid cooling, the FE air cooling solution may be the best. Not to mention the FE is beautiful.
