I am looking to upgrade to a rtx 3080 when they are released. I saw my ryzen 7 2700 might bottleneck the gpu so i will probably upgrade my cpu to the ryzen 7 3700x. I currently own the x470 ultra gaming motherboard, will this motheboard support the 3700x and how would i install it in. Would I need to do a bios update and if so how would i do that and what would i do to do that?

My PC Specs:

8gbx2 of ddr4 RAM

GTX 1060 6gb (upgrading to 3080)

Ryzen 7 2700 (upgrading to 3700x)

550w psu (upgrading to aorus p850w)

gigabyte x470 ultra gaming motherboard

Wait for ampere to actually launch and check how the 3080 performs and how the 2700 holds up with it, but at higher resolutions it shouldn't be too bad. but again wait and check how the 2700 holds up first.

 But to answer your question..

The X470 motherboards support the 3700x, but it may need a BIOS update. Here's the link for that download page. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

I'd also suggest downloading a manual from that webpage as well and looking there to upgrade the BIOS. Motherboard manufacturers are all slightly different for how to upgrade, and that's the best place to check.

In case it's needed, here's the link for the manual: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-manual

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
