Recommended Hand Held Radio

DriedSponge

Does anyone have any good recommendations for hand held radios in the $100-250 price range? I'm looking for one that can transmit on the 70cm and 2m bands.

Motorola and Kenwood are extremely good radios - there's a reason police and fire use them exclusively. But for an amateur HAM, Yaesu fits the bill nicely. Just stay away from Baofeng and the like. Those cheap Chinese radios break all kinds of FCC rules, and when you transmit on them, they tend to "leak" onto other neighbouring frequencies.

Yeah I was going to go for kenwood but they were to expensive for me. I saw the Baofeng ones all over amazon. I could just tell by looking at them that they probably weren't that great.
