Glowing Ring on Screen

Does anyone know why I am getting this glowing ring around the edge of my screen? It only shows up right after it finishes booting up and it will slowly fade away over the course of a few hours and then its normal. It acts sort of like a layer on Photoshop where its on top of everything else (mouse included) and nothing is ever "on top" of the ring. The ring is also getting worse every time the laptop boots up. It is a Dell Inspiron 15 7559, about 3-4 years old.

thinking about the way laptop screens work, a laptop of that vintage should be edge lit led.  There is a ring of LEDs around the outside of the screen that shine light onto several layers of  plastic film that spread the light across the screen.  It is done in different ways for different screens.  Perhaps one of them is breaking down or warping or something, but the heat of the screen being on eventually smooths it out? 
 

One of the layers is frequently a fresnel lens.  Fresnel lenses do weird things if they aren’t totally flat. I’m wondering if the screen is missing a layer or something that makes the screen not all the way flat across the front, and it’s enough to make light that is supposed to go to the rest of the screen evenly escape in a ring.  Bad cheaping out design that didn’t catch up until years later.
