I'm planning to mount my GPU vertically... will any riser cable work or do I have to buy the Phanteks one?

Uhm most will work, But I'd reccomend something like the cablemod riser/bracket, and using the horizontal mounts instead of the vertical mounts. That'll give your GPU more room to "breath."  If you put on one of the two integrated mounts, It probably will raise the temperatures ~10c or so over normal under load, since the GPU will be quite a bit more chocked then it would be if it were mounted with a custom braket, or just horizontally.

Technically, Any pcie riser cable should work. You don't need the phanteks one.

Is there a standard connector size for riser cables? I'm worried because I saw Kyle's video (at 24:45, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn_TVqeugOc) and it seems that Cable Mod riser cables are not compatible with the case... tho I do think that "that" specific riser cable is meant to work with Cable Mod's bracket... hence the incompatibility...

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

I am aware of the temperature tradeoff... I'm not really a fan of cutting off the bars on the expansion slots... sooo vertical brackets are out of the question... I am not mounting my gpu vertically for aesthetics (my RX 580 Nitro+ doesnt really look good mounted vertically)... I have an old motherboard that has 6 sata ports... when my GPU is mounted, it blocks 4 sata ports leaving me with only 2 ports to work with... mounting it vertically would free up all sata ports... I am in the middle of upgrading my pc... decided to start with the PSU and case... will probably upgrade my CPU, RAM and motherboard by nxt year... sooo for the meantime I'd like to mount my GPU vertically so that I can free up all sata ports for my drives... my old motherboard doesnt support m.2 drives :/

you could just plug the sata cabled before mounting the gpu.

There is literally no space xd... the space between my GPU and the motherboard is less than the size of the SATA connector head... pardon the dust xd... my P500A is still in transit and my RX 580 wont fit in the old case... will do maintenance and cleaning when it arrives xd

SATA connector head.

Ah that makes sense, then yea if you really need those extra connectors you could mount it vertically it's just yes you probably will have a temp hit and for the most part technically any pcie riser should work.

Get two right-angle SATA cables?  You can keep 2 then.  (you can't double-deep right angle sata cables, sadly.)
