so i just got a bunch of new hardware, my current rig parts:

mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130661

cpu:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113348

ram:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231720

gpu: ati x1950 old as crap (but should fit my needs)

ssd:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211596&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

Now i just installed windows 8 and all the drivers but the gpu driver, the driver that supports my gpu is a windows 7 or lower driver, however i dont think that matters so i downloaded it anyway and when i try to install the driver it tells me everything is up to date, after which windows notifies me that there is a problem with my graphics card and then when checking the device manager it shows that there is one driver but it is not for the x1950 and i know its not properly installed because diablo 3 Starcraft 2 and any other game i launch only plays at 1.2 - 2 fps.

i know i need a new gpu however there is no chance that i can get one in the next mounth or more so im stuck with it for a bit and it has in the past played d3 and sc2 at 35ish fps with worse system stats.

anyone know what the problem is? all and any help is welcome, I've been trouble shooting things for 2 weeks now and i just want to play a d3... Thanks!

You may not have a choice. There's no guarantee that really old hardware will be supported on new OS's. Either upgrade your graphics card, or go back to Windows 7. Since you didn't get an APU, you have no onboard graphics.

Did you choose the correct version of the driver? 32/64bit?

I had the same problem with one of my old laptops. There was some graphics problem when I installed Windows 8 that prevented me to play anything on it. There are some weird incompatibility issues sometimes.

Older AMD/Nvidia cards usually have a LEGACY driver, as most older cards will not be seen/compatible with new drivers.

No doubt the older x1950 will not be seen with current drivers.

Pretty sure you need to install WhateverOS version/32 or 64bit ...............of the 10.2 Catalyst Drivers.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
