well considering it doesnt really matter, you shouldnt worry if it will disappear or not. You cant saturate even a Gen 3 x16 with a 3070 sooooo...

thats... interesting. What mobo do you have? First time i see a b450 supporting PCIe 4.0

But ye, PCIe is downgradable. Means, you can easily use a PCIe 4.0 gpu on a PCIe 3.0 lane. And since no GPU so far uses the max performance of its PCIe port... the likely hood of actually needing PCIe4.0 lane for one of the new GPUs to reach the max performance is pretty low.

As I said, I have an Aorus Elite. The pcie4 support on b450s used to be common, but at some point it was announced that these boards might not handle it and it disappeared with bios updates. I've recently noticed that mine still has it, which is why I started this topic.

Oh, didnt see the aorus elite part.. my bad tho.
But yeah, taking a look at the b450 aorus elite tech spec, it states that it has only PCIe3.0 lanes. They probably tried to force the PCIe4.0 speed onto those 3.0 lanes through bios updates (just a guess tho), which indeed will cause problems on most boards which makes it reasonable that they are going to remove that through future updates.

But as long as it is the GPU PCIe port that you are worried about, than there is nothing to worry about at all :D

There are some that took it upon themselves to enable the feature in there BIOS even though its not officially supported by AMD.
