Is it possible that it will be better than the current build quality of i5's and i7's? I see a lot of complaints about the switch Intel made regarding build quality of their chips. Could that change with these?

Probably not for consumer levels. Someone pointed out to me that intel will only use the shit TIM on z77,z87,etc. so they wont last as long compared to the x79,x99. Sandy Bridge is still performing quite well compared to ivy and haswell due to it being able to hit higher clockspeeds. If you look at the 4820k, its a 3770k on a bigger die and soldered TIM.

It's all about money. x99 will be the better cooled due to soldering, and they are going to take a dump all over broadwell with the TIM.

You mean broadwell?

If they solder the TIM then yes.

You know they wont though. God forbid we get Sandy Bridge like perfomance comapared to the generation before.
