Is memtest 64 reliable??

I have finished ram overclocking using the dram calculator and was thinking if running memtest 64 for 8 hours is good enough for a stable mem test??

Okay I was just making sure because some people were saying how memtest 64 was not as good as memtest 86 and it can’t detect errors that well.

memtest 64 is decent. yes the memtest 86 is better but i think that your are good to go. you will notice if it is unstable

Oh another question is can memory testing turn cpu temps to high?? I am running memtest 64 right now and my temps are at 75 c spiking to 83 c every once in a while. Will it roast my cpu??

if your cpu stays under 90c it will be fine

Okay I will check back once every hour to make sure it stay under 90c. If it is over 90 c for 1 hour will that turn the life time down or not??

what temp is it under full CPU load? because this sounds abnormally high if the CPU isnt truly loaded.

 

try prime 95/cinebench

It gets to 91c-92c I am getting the scythe fuma 2 at Christmas for overclocking.

I re applied thermal paste but the thermal paste I re applied was some 1 star thermal grease

MX-4 is good stuff. upgrade the paste, that will help a lot.

I will just get the scythe fuma 2 and apply the scythes paste when it comes. When gaming it doesn’t get above 75c.

I have no idea what paste they use. 8 bucks, you have a tube of top paste. It's a good investment.
