Computer not powering up only when installing the GPU

Hi,

Yesterday I was playing a game and during the game suddenly the computer turned off, I have AMD XFX r580 black edition, now when I try to turn the PC on it just gives a red light on the GPU above the 8 pins connector.

When I remove the 8 pin power cable, the bios resets and then the computer with turn on but without any thing showing on the display, so I totally removed the GPU and connected the display to the onboard display card and it is working fine. So does this means the GPU is faulty even that it is only one year old, or the PSU is not handling the required power (PSU is 650W)

Please advice

Thank you

Hey there bud.

I am no expert but it seems to me like you had the card for a year before it stopped working. That would mean that the power supply was good enough for it - it was working.

It only died yesterday and now my question is - was it a GPU or the power supply that kicked the bucket? Is your PSU modular? Maybe the 8 pin module got fadoodled? I don't know.

Do you have another power supply that you can test? Just to power the card on its own.

If its not power supply - then it means that the GPU died. Yes it can happen after a year sometimes.

Is it under warranty? If so - get it replaced.

Kind regards.

Thank you Andrzej for you reply, tomorrow I will go to my office any try to plug the GPU to another PC and see what would happen, The card should be under warranty but the issue is that I bought it from Dubai and now I my in Jordan.

I believe you can contact manufacturer in Jordan to get your warranty replacement? I don't know how it works but basically AMD is AMD. Could be mistaken. I was never in a similar situation geographically.

Another option would be to send it to someone in Dubai (friend / family) and let them get it replaced and shipped back to you.

Kind regards.

Andrzej

Thank you brother
