I've been having some trouble recently finding a better PSU for this computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06693646#AbT0. It's an HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0023w. I'm looking to upgrade the CPU from a AMD Ryzen 5 3500 to an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and I need help finding a PSU that will be able to support the wattage. The current PSU can only output 400W, but I'm looking to upgrade it to at least 600W if possible. If anyone finds out anything, please inform me.

The power supply size itself is proprietary. I haven't seen any mounting for ATX or SFX power supplies. Not to mention that some of the connectors on the motherboard seem to be proprietary to HP and you'll probably need adaptors for those.

Any clue on where to find the adapters?

There's not that much power difference between a 3500 and 3700x. Maybe like 50w difference. With only a GTX1650 you shouldn't have issues running the 3700x on a 400w power supply.

Does the 400w PSU have an 8pin CPU power connector or 4pin?

Does it have a standard 24pin motherboard connector or something else?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

This is the stock PSU I found on Newegg: https://www.newegg.com/p/1B4-001S-08AB3

What boggles me is that when I put this particular desktop on layaway at Walmart, on the side of the box it says it's upgradeable.

It doesn't say what is upgradable. Adding another hard drive is upgrading the storage. Adding more ram is upgrading...

It's on lawaway? You haven't bought it yet and you're already planning on changing the CPU and power supply? Cancel your lawaway and either buy a different pre-built or just assemble a PC yourself.

If that's the PSU it comes with then you're screwed.

I see what you mean. I'm considering getting just a new CPU for now because if you compare the TDP for both CPU's, they're both 65W. If I eventually get to the point where I do have to upgrade the power supply, I will look for another option.
